Google Universal Search changes search results

Over the last few weeks Google has slowly introduced its “Universal Search”, which has changed the Google search results page landscape.  Now instead of only listing web pages in it's search results, Google will include results from its “vertical databases”, for example images, News Groups and videos.  This means that potentially positions formerly taken in the top ten results on Google by web pages, are now taken up by images, videos or news group postings.

So now as well as optimizing your web page for relevant keywords, you need to consider the optimization of your image, video clips and blogs that you may have.  Active optimisation of your images, videos and news groups for Google can now be a great way to gain top results on Google, if done correctly.
